Lauren Greenwood is an award-winning screenwriter and playwright. She won the 2019 Telefilm Canada New Voices Award with her feature screenplay SUBJECT 27. Under its previous title, the script was also shortlisted for the 2019 National Screen Institute Features First program. Her first short film, RED BALLOON, was Avi Federgreen’s directorial debut starring Gord Rand, Natalie Brown and Patrick McKenna. Her first play and directorial debut, AN ATLAS, A NECKTIE & OTHER CONCERNS, ran at the juried Scripted Toronto Festival and the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2019. The play won Best of Fringe North (519), and was a finalist for the Cayle Chernin Award, and was recently adapted into a web series (CLYMB Productions). A graduate of the Second City Conservatory, Lauren also co-created, co-wrote and performed in the sketch comedy revue CARPE INTO MY DMs, which won Best of Fringe at the Toronto Fringe Festival 2019. She is a regular contributor to Blue Ant Media’s web series SECOND NATURE, ANIMALOGIC, FLORALOGIC, PALEOLOGIC, and WORLD OF BIRDS. She wrote a feature thriller produced by Neshama Entertainment in 2022, as well as a feature thriller produced by Reel One Entertainment in 2023. Lauren is a graduate of the prestigious York University MFA Screenwriting Program.
