Rick Roberts

Rick Roberts wrote and directed Fish/Wife, which was named one of the top ten plays of 2002 by the Globe and Mail, and Kite in 2004 for which he was nominated for two Dora awards for directing and writing. His play (nod) (Theatre Gargantua) was nominated for a Dora Award for best production in 2003. He also contributed short pieces to Convergence Theatre’s Autoshow, and The Gladstone Variations (Dora nomination), which was listed in NOW magazine as one of the best shows of the decade. In the fall of 2009, Mimi, or A Poisoner’s Comedy, a musical co-written with Allen Cole and Melody Johnson, opened at the Tarragon Theatre to enthusiastic reviews and a Dora nomination for Best New Musical. He wrote the short film The Birthday Cake which screened at the Palm Springs and Slamdance short film festivals. He is currently writing a television pilot with Michael Healey which is in development with Pier 21 Films for Shaw Cable.
