Natty Zavitz is a screenwriter and director from Toronto. His first feature film EDGING (‘17) won the Audience Pick for Best Flick at the 2017 Canadian Film Festival. His second feature ACQUAINTED (‘18) premiered at the 2018 Whistler Film Festival and has gone on to critical and box office success. He believes that film sets and the experience of watching a film are exercises in space making and benefit from attention towards inclusivity, safety, and open communication. Under his banner Hometeam Films, Natty has Executive Produced several projects, including Gurjeet Kaur Bassi’s short film THE CHASE (TIFF ’22); Anubha Momin’s short film AFTERCARE (TIFF ‘23); and V.T. Nayani’s feature THIS PLACE (TIFF ’22). Currently he is in development on his third feature A NOSE FOR TROUBLE which has been supported by Telefilm and the Harold Greenberg Fund in Canada and the Piedmont Film Commission in Italy, and will be a part of the International Film Financing Forum at TIFF ’23. Natty is also co-writing a half hour comedy MACK alongside Shomari Downer and RT Thorne, and has optioned Jane Jacobs’ 1961 urban-planning book THE DEATH AND LIFE OF GREAT AMERICAN CITIES towards a limited series.
